We believe these things:
Our Unwavering Declaration of Faith
Anchored in the eternal truth of God’s Word, The Good News Jail and Prison Ministry joyfully
embraces the following core beliefs, which define our identity and inspire our mission to bring
the light of Christ into correctional facilities and communities affected by incarceration.
We believe the Holy Scriptures, in their original manuscripts, are the divinely inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. Written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Bible is without error in all it affirms and stands as our supreme standard for faith, doctrine, and daily life
Scripture References: 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 19:7–9
We believe in one eternal God who exists as three distinct yet co-equal and co-eternal Persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. Each Person is fully divine and operates in perfect harmony in creation, redemption, and the fulfillment of God’s purposes in the world.
Scripture References: Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Genesis 1:26
We believe all human beings are created in the image of God, endowed with intrinsic value, dignity, and purpose. Through Adam’s sin, humanity fell from its original state, resulting in spiritual and physical death, and alienation from God. This fallen condition affects every aspect of life and calls for divine redemption.
Scripture References: Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12; Isaiah 59:2
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who took on human flesh. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life, perfectly revealing God’s grace and truth. Through His sacrificial death on the cross, He accomplished full atonement for all who believe. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, intercedes for us, and will return in power and glory.
Scripture References: John 1:14; Philippians 2:6–8; 1 Peter 2:24; Romans 8:34; Acts 1:11
We believe salvation is the unearned gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not the result of works or human merit. Through repentance and belief, the Holy Spirit brings about regeneration, justification, and adoption into God’s family
Scripture References: Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 3:24; John 1:12; Titus 3:5
We believe the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. At the moment of salvation, He indwells every believer, uniting us with Christ and His Church. He empowers us for godly living, bold witness, spiritual growth, and fruitful service, and distributes gifts for the edification of the Body.
Scripture References: John 16:8; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:4–7; Galatians 5:22–23
We believe the universal Church is the Body of Christ, comprising all true believers across time and place. Local churches are visible expressions of this Body, gathering for worship, teaching, fellowship, the sacraments of baptism and communion (as visible signs of God's grace and our participation in Christ's life and death), and equipping for mission. Active participation in a local church is vital for spiritual growth and gospel outreach.
Scripture References: Ephesians 1:22–23; Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:24–25; Matthew 28:19–20
We believe in the personal, visible, and victorious return of Jesus Christ. He will raise the dead, judge the living and the dead, and establish His eternal Kingdom. Believers will enjoy everlasting life in God’s presence, while the unrepentant will face eternal separation and judgment. Until His return, we are committed to proclaiming the Gospel—especially within correctional facilities and to those affected by incarceration—demonstrating Christ’s love through word and deed, and pursuing justice in His name.
